This part of the collection consists of the various equipment that really did not fit into any of the other categories available at the time the item was acquired. I-20M01 SPACE HEATER. CHARLES BESELER CO. ser. no. R-2697 Coiled wire resistances variable with knife switches 80-105A. Distributed by Century Lighting as a variable "load" for use with dimmers having minimum load requirements. Donated by Century-Strand (1971). I-20M02 CARBON PILE RESISTANCE DIMMER Donated by C. H. Firmin (1974). I-20M03 VISTASCOPE An optical foreground matting device for shooting live film action. Mounts on a carriage in front of the camera. Superimposed image taken from a slide or shallow model. Useful in the early fifties as it allowed superimpositions to be done in the field, rather than through the effects department. Designed by Achilles Pierre Dufour (France). Donated by Century-Strand (1971). I-20M04 CENTURY No. 1505, 30" 5000w BEAMLITE A prototype for the Metropolitan Opera at LincolnCenter. Optics by Charles Levy, mechanics by W. H.Allison. File includes prints of complete fabrication drawings. Donated by Century-Strand (1971). I-20M05 4-1/2" PC SPOTLIGHT BATTERY (Duwico) Six individual PC spots (400w, no reflectors) are wired separately, mounted in 5'-7" cage 10" c/c. Cage mounts with two C-clamps. On loan from Terry Wells. I-20M06 MECHANICAL DIMMING IRIS Developed by G. Izenour, 1952. Mounts in colorframe clips of Century 8" Fresnelite. Donated by George Izenour (1976). I-20M07 PC DISPLAY SPOTLIGHT 4-3/8" PC spotlight, short visor, no color frameclips, spherical reflector. Accepts medium screw base lamp (socket rated 660w 250V). Mounts on "L" bracket. Side-mounted motor apparently used to rotate a display drum mounted on an axis atop the unit. No manufacturer's markings, except two ceramic bushings labeled "F.E.CO. PAT. 9-11-06". Donated by Hugh Evans (1976). I-20M08 CLEMENCON XENON FOLLOW SPOT Vertical fixed position 900w XBO xenon lamp and vertical optical train. Handwheel with cam manipulates focus through tracker wire arrangement. Operator's lever adjusts second-surface mirror for tilt, pans entire optical train except lamp and parabolic reflector. Iris, two boomerangs (2- and 4-filter),template slot and holder. Shutters operate in pairs,shutter assembly rotates 90 degrees. All functions of movement except lens focus are calibrated to aid the operator in making dead pick ups. Donated by Century-Strand (1974). I-20M09 OPTICAL BENCH FITTINGS Stanley McCandless' laboratory equipment from Century Lighting, Inc., New York, NY, comprising amounting base and five assemblies for the mounting of optical testing components. Also included are a 2.5" Dia. spherical reflector, 4.5" Dia. PC lens, a five-aperture rotating disk, one 5 amp/ 6 volt lamp and a 2 RPM motor drive. Donated by Lawrence Kellermann (1979)
