VIII. LIGHTING CONTROL DRAWINGS
The largest part of this collection
relates to Century and Century-Strand
projects from the early 1950's through
the early 1970's. This is a complete
collection of the original project
folders of all control assignments
undertaken by Century/Century-Strand's
east coast office during these years,
and was donated to the Archives by
Century-Strand. The numbering system is
that used by the firm, and consists of
a five-digit number plus, in most cases,
a prefix letter. The first two digits
refer to the year the project was
instituted, the final three are
chronological for that year. For
purposes of filing, prefix letters have
been ignored. These drawings are stored
in Archives at the Library Annex in
the Academic Activities Building.
Appended to the Century control
drawings collections is a series of
shop notepads containing carbon copies of
F. Wolff's memos at Century Lighting,
Inc. The fourteen notepads date 7/25/51
to 8/19/64, with a few gaps. Donated to
the Archives by L. Kellermann (1975).
The collection also includes a few
project folders from Ramsey Controls,
Inc.; Lehigh Electric Products Co.; and
Marumo-Denki Co., Ltd. These are stored
in Drawer 59.

The electrical engineer, Vincent A. Lombardi,
was determined not to accept Century on the job
and tried every possible means to reject our
plans. Final submission was prepared with
special care; the copies were acceptable to
Lombardi only as blueprints, not as blackline
drawings. Many special features not normal to
Century design were required and were furnished
as part of this job.
