Latest News Sweet Charity Replaces Chicago in Penn State School of Theatre Season Schedule The Penn State School of Theatre's production of Chicago, scheduled to play at the Playhouse Theatre, University Park campus, February 15--26, 2005, has been cancelled due to a national tour coming to Hershey, Pa. The School of Theatre will produce the musical Sweet Charity in its place. Sweet Charity (book by Neil Simon, lyrics by Dorothy Fields, and music by Cy Coleman) tells the story of an optimistic young woman taxi dancer, Charity, who "wears her heart on her sleeve." Charity continues to have faith in the human race despite apparently endless disappointments, and hopes that she will finally meet a nice young man to romance her away from her sleazy life. Handsome Oscar might be the one to do it. Sweet Charity is one of six shows that the School of Theatre will produce in its 2004-2005 season, which also includes Is There Life After High School?, The Rimers of Eldritch, Noises Off, The Colored Museum and Arcadia. Current Chicago ticket holders may exchange or obtain a refund. Chicago tickets will be accepted for Sweet Charity at the door. For more information, call 814-863-0255 or 1-800-ARTS-TIX or view the School of Theatre's 2004-2005 season online brochure.
