School of Theatre Alum, Ty Burrell, Lands Starring Role on CBS Sitcom, Out of Practice

Ty Burrell, Penn State School of Theatre '97 M.F.A. graduate, has made some major accomplishments in his acting career, the most recent being a starring role on the new CBS sitcom, Out of Practice, where he costars with Henry Winkler, Stockard Channing, and Christopher Gorham.

Burrell can be seen Monday nights, at 9:30 p.m., EST. He plays a good-looking, self-centered, plastic surgeon who enjoys dating the prettiest women in town, some of whom he helped make that way. The show is about a family of doctors who have nothing in common, except their profession.

Burrell has made giant leaps in developing himself as an actor. Before graduating from Penn State, he was born and raised in Ashland, Oregon. After college he moved right on to act in some major productions in television, movies, and Off-Broadway plays.

Ty Burrell's film credits include Evolution, Black Hawk Down, Dawn of the Dead, and In Good Company. His extensive theatre credits include the highly acclaimed Signature Theatre Off-Broadway production of Burn This, in which he starred opposite Edward Norton, Catherine Keener, and Dallas Roberts. In 2004, he starred as Lord Buckingham in The Public Theatre's production of Richard III opposite Peter Dinklage.

Burrell has four upcoming feature films: Friends with Money, starring Jennifer Aniston, Darwin Awards, Down in the Valley with Edward Norton, and Fur with Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr.

Ty Burrell has worked hard to be living the life that most actors dream, and now lives in New York with his wife Holly.
