Kur receives Golden Key outstanding faculty award

10/27/2002—Barry Kur, professor of theatre and artistic director of the University Park Ensemble, was presented with Penn State's Golden Key National Honor Society's Outstanding Faculty Member Award at an award ceremony on Sunday, October 27, 2002, at Eisenhower Auditorium. The award is presented to one faculty member each year.

Kur was recognized by the honor society for his work with the University Park Ensemble, an undergraduate theatre company that addresses social, health and academic issues relevant to the campus community. Using theatre, the company helps to raise students' awareness of issues regarding their health and well-being. The company performs improvisational, interactive
and scripted materials in a variety of locations across the University Park campus.

The Golden Key National Honor Society was founded over twenty-five years ago and has over 300 chapters in the United States, Canada and Australia. Penn State's is the largest chapter. Its primary mission is to recognize and support academic excellence. Students with a 3.79 grade-point average or in the top 15 percent of their class are invited to join.
