Trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London, England. She has worked extensively in Britain and overseas teaching voice and dialect in theatre, film and education. Charmian taught with Patsy Rodenburg for many years at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and with Andrew Wade and Cicely Berry at the Royal Shakespeare Company where she has worked on numerous productions both in Stratford and London.

Her theatre credits include the Royal National Theatre, London; Manchester Royal Exchange; Shakespeare’s Globe, Regents Park Open Air Theatre; Stratford Festival Theatre, Stratford, Ontario; Theatre for a New Audience, New York; Almeida Theatre, London; Chichester Festival Theatre, England; Derby Playhouse, Salisbury Playhouse and many British national tours and West End productions.

Charmain also taught at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts for seven years and is on the London faculty of the Asolo Theatre program with Florida State University. Film work includes Othello, An Ideal Husband, and The Butcher Boy.
