Faculty JIM WISE Acting The Pennsylvania State University 127B Arts Bldg University Park, PA 16802-2900 (814) 8650588 jew26@psu.edu Jim joined the Penn State Acting faculty in 2002 after serving thirteen years as Head of Graduate Acting and Director of the SERIES X program at the Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory in Sarasota, Florida. A native of Chicago, Jim began his acting and directing career in 1973. In 1976 he joined the St. Nicholas Theatre Company (founded by David Mamet, William H. Macy and Steve Schachter) where he served as Artistic Director of its New Works Series, taught acting, and directed and acted in the company's acting ensemble. In 1980 he co-founded the New Haven Playhouse in Chicago and joined the faculty at Purdue University where he headed the M.F.A. graduate acting program from 1984-1989. He has directed over 60 productions at the professional and university levels, including 12 world premieres. He has taught over 100 acting workshops throughout the United States, and his continuing professional work brings ongoing contributions to his teaching and directing at the university level.
