B.F.A. Theatre —Stage Management
Whether the student is interested in business theatre, special event, dance, opera, or traditional play and musical production, the B.F.A. in Theatre - Stage Management program strives for exposure in all areas of theatre. Central to this theme is involvement in production early in a student’s tenure. First-year students are assigned almost immediately to M.F.A. directing projects, University Park Ensemble productions, and numerous undergraduate productions. There is no attempt to separate theory from actual practice.

Structure
The B.F.A. in Theatre - Stage Management includes prescribed courses in stage management, acting, makeup, voice and speech, movement, costume crafts, stage lighting production, stagecraft, and theatre drafting techniques. Other prescribed courses include theatre history and sound production.

The rest of the course layout is composed of required courses, optional courses, and courses in consultation with an adviser that are intended to round out a student’s knowledge in management, music, dance, and other studies complementary to stage management.

Professional Liaison
A professional stage manager whose credits include Broadway, off-Broadway, national, regional, and special event productions heads the Stage Management program. Students from the program have gone on to work in New York City (both on and off-Broadway) and major regional theatres across the country.

B.F.A. in Theatre - Stage Management Interview Requirements
Prepare for the requirements of all applicants as described under “B.F.A. Admission Procedures” and for the stage management interview as follows:

1. Answer in writing several specific questions related to stage management skills. Answers must be typed single spaced and limited to one page (front and back). The questions will be available when the student calls to schedule an interview.

2. Bring a resume, examples of past works, or production books to review with the coordinator of the stage management option.
